In coming Tim nice but dim, no we did not name him, he has been waiting for us to have room for him for a little while now, he is about 9 months old and we are told he is a St Bernard X Bullbreed and HUGE more info as we get to know him, as per our policy he will be castrated, vaccinated and microchipped and homechecks and contract will need to be sorted, can you offer Tim a home do you think?

Tim has arrived and is starting to settle

What a lad he is wonderful the photo does not do him justice at all

He is off to the vets tomorrow to be castrated and start his vaccinations

So far seems a very friendly lad, very strong but just lovely

Having trawled the web and photos I think this boy is a Mastiff X AB maybe, his coat is still putting a spanner in the works but whatever he is a crossbreed laughing

Tim's assessment

Dogs Name: Tim Breed: Mastiff X Sex: M Age: 9mths Date: 10/02/12
SITUATION Dogs reactions
Person casually walks past dog while dog is eating (meal or special food) Once Tim has his head in the food bowl he doesn’t pay attention to anything else going on around him, he showed no unwanted
behaviours
Person tries to pick up bowl while dog is eating (meal or special food) Tim showed no aggression when the bowl has picked up, however he did continue to eat until the bowl was out of his reach
Person tries to pick up food that has fallen to floor while dog is trying to reach it Tim rushes forward towards the food once it is cover he carries on trying to get it from your hand, but displays no aggression
what so ever
Person tries to touch or take away high value food that dog is eating or holding Once Tim has the high value treat he carries on eating and will not release it, but doesn’t show any aggression when you try to
take it from his mouth
Person tries to touch or take away a toy that dog is playing with Toys are very special to Tim once he has a toy it is very difficult to prize it from his mouth, but he doesn’t show any aggression
with it
He does try to snatch it back
Person reaches hand towards dog Tim has no issues with hands going towards him, he loves affection and can sometimes see this as play and jump up
Person reaches over dog’s head Same as above

Person grabs at dog’s collar or neck No aggression or appeasing behaviours shown

Tim is very accepting of this and can elicit play behaviours

Person pushes down on dog’s rump Same as above
Person tries to get dog to lie down by voice command Tim knows this command well
Person tries to get dog to lie down by physical pushing Tim refuses to go into the down but doesn’t show any aggressive or appeasing behaviours
Person tries to get dog to roll over on its back by physical manipulation Tim will go half over then tries to get up, he doesn’t show any negative reactions
Person tries to groom dog’s head , torso, or legs (ie other than feet) Tim is very accepting of the brush and appears to enjoy grooming

Person clips or tries to clip dog’s toenails Not Tested
Person tries to bathe dog, including towelling off after bath Not Tested

behaviours
Person stares into dog’s eyes Tim will hold eye contact for a few seconds then looks away
Person shouts loudly near dog

Tim shows no reaction to a person shouting
Person threatens dog with object such as newspaper or with hand Tim sees this as play
Person drops an object near dog Tim is not easily startled and investigates the object
Stranger knocks on door or rings bell at dog's home Tim can sometimes bark at new people, but this is an attention seeking behaviour that he has learnt from another dog
Stranger enters house Same as above
Stranger in house tries to pet dog No issues Tim appears to like all people and affection
Stranger approaches dog in car No issues reported
Stranger approaches dog on street
No issues reported
Another person touches or hugs person with dog Not Tested
Stranger shouts loudly in dog’s presence Again Tim just ignores the shouting and looks for affection
Dog walks past familiar non reactive dog Tim likes to investigate and play with all dogs
Dog walks past unfamiliar non reactive dog Same as above
Dog walks past familiar reactive dog Tim will try to investigate the dog and sometimes tries to elicit play
Dog walks past unfamiliar reactive dog Same as above
Tim is a young juvenile, he doesn’t appear to have a bad bone in his body, if anything Tim is too playful and being a big dog this can sometimes be a little problematic. All these behaviours were shown at the time of this assessment conducted by Shaun Aldridge (Ruff Diamond Dog Training); however these behaviours may change in different circumstances.

What a sweetie!!
I don't think he's dim, just very, very laid back.
If you have a sausage in your pocket he's instantly your best mate - reminds me of a girl I once knew. big smile
He's going to make someone very happy, unfortunately not me, as 2's company, 3's a cost pressure and 4 is impossible.
