High prey drive is never fun, hopefully she can go somewhere without small furries, but at least she didn't have a go. Keep up the good work, she is looking beautiful.
Have you tried saying her name and when she acknowledes give her food or toy what ever is more value to her and do it a couple of time and a few sessions a day until she is more responsive to her name.

We are using her name so often I am calling my other pets Polly too ...... even my sons Bearded Dragon..... loon

It does get a tad confusing after a while.

Anyway ... i am working on it.......

Maybe you can come up with a new name that she likes, we got Dougs name because he was called dog for so long it was the only name he would marginly acknowledge, plus he's not the brightest button in the box, but he is a keeper.

PostSubject: just a quick update on polly ....   Tue Mar 27, 2012 1:51 pm

Walking : getting better by the day. She is not pulling at much and very much used to the gentle leader.
Obedience on the path : Prompt sitting at roads most of the time. Also the word "leave it". Can get distracted when loud cars/lorries go by or sitting at the roadside for a long time. Also noticed that when she picks up food of the floor she does let you remove the food ... but ya have to be quick and confident with your actions!!!
Prey drive : Still high but not as high. However, still NO CATS OR BIRDS
Toilet training : Very few mistakes and she is now in the habit of going out certain times of the day. Not one 'mistake' in her crate.
Maturity : SHE IS A CHILD !!! Still learning. She craves the human 'touch' surprised
Taking food from the hand : When prompted to be 'slow/gentle' she gently takes from the hand. She never used to
Play fighting/mouthing : She is learning very well how hard to 'bite' your hand in a playful manner. When prompts she stops immediately. We all still have two hands .. no accidents. She still needs to learn better to play with other dogs, she tends to go for the face/neck most of the time in play mode. Baby steps ....
Off lead : Not tried. I very much doubt she is still ready. However is getting more long lead work/experience.
Emotional : yes, plenty off. All woman for sure.!!!!! thumbs

Summary ... improvements day by day by day ....

Sounds like you are doing some great work with Polly and she is looking good

Think I would try and change her name if she is not responding to Polly and as said use treats/toy when she responds to it. Have you tried clicker training with her?

Just a brief update on Polly ....

She, at last, recognises her name
will not attack my bird
and he been much more appreciative of the house cats. She is not perfect but signficantly better than when we first go her. Cats outside ... NOT A CHANCE big smile and she seems to have taken a fancy to french cuisine .. she eats snails and slugs. Bees and flys .. .no she just catches, chews them and spits them out.

Anyway, truth be told, her behaviour inside the home has improved greatly. She is getting much better walking however she has different behaviours dependant on who is walking her and the 'distractions' that are placed upon her whilst she is walking the streets/fields. She still requires socialisation training however the plan is, now that she is aware of her name, for Polly to embark on a structured training program with the professionals.
